we didn't have a plan for wednesday, but had made a list of a few things that might be fun to do in the area. we decided on the zoo and it didn't disappoint. it was just the right size to enjoy everything before we got too tired.
we saw a crocodile and isaac kept covering his eyes and saying 'ahhh' since we've been practicing the new verse of row row your boat we learned.
row row row your boat, gently down the stream
if you see a crocodile, close your eyes and scream 'ahhh!'
my favorite animal to see was the armadillo. i've never seen one up close!
cody discovered this cool caterpillar that hitched a ride on our stroller across a lot of the zoo.
they had this fun hippo sculpture by the entrance to the african area. we were glad it wasn't too hot to climb on them!
cody and ryan learned all about rosie the tarantula while isaac and i walked around. there's only so much i care to hear about a giant spider.
we got to the elephant enclosure, we had to wait just a few minutes before they were going to do a little demonstration with the elephant (it was a bit larger than this isaac sized one that entertained isaac while we waited). the elephant did some pretty awesome tricks and ended by laying down on her side and trumpeting. it was so loud!
we ended our day at the little petting zoo near the back of the zoo. the boys liked brushing the goats. cody got butted gently by one goat when he tried to go under the chain to 'their' area.
we had a quick lunch at the zoo restaurant before heading home. it was really fun to go and do something with just our little family. it was the first time we've done a family vacation that didn't include going to visit family!
