isaac had his first birthday while we were in arizona this year. we were in thatcher for his actual birthday, but his dad was still in texas, so we just had a mini birthday party with his bishop grandparents.
grandma berta made him a little brownie up-up-up cake.
having just had christmas, isaac wasn't half bad at opening his presents.
it was a bit of an eventful day. we ran lots of errands in the morning on isaac's birthday and went to casa manana for lunch.
then after dinner, we had a major bath time need. kinda gross and graphic...but you can probably guess what's dripping clear down his leg and out of his pants. my mom and i had to carry him to the bathroom in a bowl. poor kid.
grandma and grandpa bishop got isaac some new animals for our zoo. they came a day after his birthday. you can see what part of the present he enjoyed the most. he sat and played with the packaging for at least 10 or 15 minutes.
since we were in arizona, we couldn't take isaac in for his well-check until a couple weeks after his birthday, but here are his one-year-old stats:
head - 18.75 inches (87th percentile)
weight - 23 lbs (75th percentile)
height - 30.25 inches (50th percentile)
not quite as big and tall as cody at one year, but still a tall and thin boy.
here are some of isaac's antics in the last few weeks.
isaac loves to push his skid loader around as cody pushes his dump truck. his first real sound was the sound of driving a car.
there is a dog that lives behind us that likes to bark. when isaac hears it he looks around and has started saying 'dog' or 'woof.' i'm not sure that he actually knows that the dog he hears is the same thing as the dogs we see at cachet's house (when i work) or when we're out walking.
cleaning is one of isaac's favorite past-times. it would be so much more effective if he could walk around to vacuum....and maybe turned it over.
he also loves to push the broom around and grab the wash cloth off the rack to scrub the floor with. we find damp wash cloths all over the place sometimes after isaac has 'cleaned up'
we have one sheet that's not as tight around the crib mattress as the other. when the loose one is on the bed, this is what i often come in to find after naptime.
we're working on using a fork and spoon, but often the hands are just so much easier!
cody loves to make dinner for me while i take a shower in the morning. if isaac wakes up in time, he gets to join us for quite a feast now that he's big enough to sit up at their little table.
isaac loves this little rocking chair. just before the end of the year he figured out that he could climb into it all by himself. he was so proud to be able to sit up and rock like a big boy.
later that same day he figured out that he could also climb into that big grey tupperware in the picture above. i caught him laying awkwardly on the bottom, not quite knowing what to do with himself.
we have people tell us all the time how easy going isaac is. we thought it couldn't be possible to have an easier baby than cody, but isaac truly is. he eats anything and everything and lots of it. he rarely wakes up at night. he plays happily in his crib long after his naps and i don't even know he's woken up. he thinks cody is the funniest person in the world and loves to imitate him. i can plop him down in his little kitchen, and he's entertained for hours. we love this little boy and watching him learn and grow so fast!
