we were so lucky to be able to stop at great grandma's three different times while in utah. annie and i had lunch there (with the kids) before bear lake. then i stayed a couple of days with the kids after bear lake. we stopped one last time after the varga reunion because bonnie had thrown up coming out of the canyon. it was so nice to be able to wash her clothes and carseat before we had to drive 11 hours home.
anyway, when i was there for a few days with the kids...
uncle greg showed the boys these wiggle bikes. the driveway is perfect to ride down over and over and over and over....multiple times a day.
grandma let the kids pick a treasure from her box, took us for a walk to the octopus tree, and fed us so much delicious food.
we spent monday morning exploring logan a little bit. marianne told us about a little zoo that was just perfect sized for us - bonnie even walked the whole zoo. we got there just in time to see the turtles get fed and the keeper let the boys pet the little turtles. we saw a few kinds of cats, an eagle, some owls and other birds, and got close enough to the reindeer to feel their furry antlers.
we discovered that cody and isaac can both just as far as a cricket :)
there was a park outside the zoo where we played for a few minutes. then we drove to the cheese factory to get some tastes and flavored milk to go with our snack. i texted jackie freeman, who lived up the street from us in laramie while i was growing up, and asked if we could come for a quick last-minute visit. luckily she was home and even got katie to come over with her two kids. it was so awesome to see them and chat for a bit. we love the freeman's!
(i'm lucky i even remembered to take a picture and bummed that jackie's eyes were closed!)
we stopped for some beloved chick-fil-a to go on our way home and ate at great grandma's. then everyone laid down for a nap - even cody fell asleep for a while. vacationing is exhausting! great grandma made bread while we were gone and it was supposed to be a great incentive to wake up from naps, but isaac only made it half-way across the house before he fell back to sleep.
the kids had so much fun with my uncle greg. he collects buckets of rocks from his garden and took the boys down to the creek two different times to throw the rocks in. the first time cody threw the bucket right in too...
the boys even showed ryan what to do when he came.
i can't believe that in all the stops to great grandma's, we didn't even get a picture. needless to say, we had several wonderful visits. i'm so grateful that my kids have a good relationship with that wonderful woman!
