our last stop was in cozumel, mexico. we got off the boat and onto a ferry that took us actually into cozumel. nicole warned us that it was easy to get a little queasy on the ride, so she and ryan were extra careful to not get sick.
our excursion was a tour of the "rio secreto." it is an underground river that is considered sacred to some native cultures, making so we couldn't take pictures on our own. we had to dress in their special wetsuits and follow the guide carefully to not disturb places we shouldn't go. this was probably my favorite of our excursions, making it even more sad that we couldn't take pictures. we did end up buying one of the pictures their photographer took to remember the awesome experience.
after we got out of the river/caves, they had an authentic meal ready for us. it was delicious! they had several sauces of different temperatures. they warned us of the super hot one, but i loved it!
we took the bus ride back to the city and had some time to kill. this was the first place we actually went to the beach! nicole and i sat on the sand while the boys walked into the water a few feet.

we did a bit more shopping before our ferry left and all got shirts for our families. the ferry ride back was just a perfect nap time :)
we skipped out on the evening entertainment since it as a comedian. we assumed it wouldn't be our taste as much of the supposedly "family friendly" comedy was pretty raunchy. instead we watched the live action version of "the jungle book" the best we could from the pool deck.
when we came back from dinner, we each had a fun friend hanging out in our rooms.
the last day of the cruise was just bookin' it back to galveston. ryan, sean, and nicole spent the morning up on the top deck doing more surfing and sliding. i'd pretty much had enough of sun and swimming, so i parked myself with a glass of ice water, some sudoku, and my kindle on the lower deck. the water was the bluest i've ever seen and so calm. it felt great to just relax and enjoy the cool ocean breeze.
the show the last night was saturday night fever. the performers were great, but the show content left something to be desired. we determined we'd definitely not ever want to bring our kids on this kind of cruise, but we did have a lot of fun and made a lot of great memories. we're so glad that we enjoy spending time together and could work it out to go together on the trip!
once we got back to galveston, we parted ways to different airports. ryan and i flew back to phoenix on saturday and annie picked us up at the airport. she had been in thatcher, where my parents had taken the kids after a few day in show low, and brought the kids back with her. we were sure glad to see them and get back home!!
