adventures at grandma berta's

first thing first at grandma berta's, make a list of all the things that need to be done during our visit.  as you can see, we were very busy and didn't even get everything done.

we went by bashas' to do a little shopping.  i had forgotten they have a play center for kids who are potty trained.  we let cody go in a play while we took isaac to get the groceries.  cody made this great nest cookie while we was there.  the lady working said he was very careful and particular with where he placed the 'eggs' and 'sticks'

we had 'monster smoothies' for breakfast.  i didn't catch a picture fast enough to see their one banana eye and pineapple mouth very well, but they were sure tasty.

tish and her two boys were in town visiting her mama.  what timing!!  we almost never get to see them.  we met their gang at the new splash pad near the college.  riley unknowingly had a little friend make himself at home on riley's shoulder.

the boys all loved the itty bitty lizard.

we made 'the cake' for a late birthday cake for grandma.  isaac didn't miss a step.  he always loves a little taste at the counter.

grandma found cody some 'farmers' that barely fit him, but he insisted on wearing them at least as long as it too him and isaac to get completely soaked on the back patio.  so much fun.

nicole came over for a day to hang out with us.  we had a grand tea party with 'the cake' while she was there.  we couldn't quite believe what a huge mess isaac made of his!

grandma has lots of big big books, but none cooler than the very hungry caterpillar - complete with caterpillar that fits through the holes.

my mom had a bunch of leftover knit fabric from something, so she made a bunch of scarves for all the girls.  she let beth's girls pick the ones they wanted over facetime and isaac modeled.

my parents former neighbor, marilyn, used to live in new orleans.  when she and her husband moved, she gave my parents a big shoe box full of mardi gras beads - so many that i don't think we could even fit all of them on the two boys.

isaac could sit for hours putting them on and taking them off.

we had to get in a little hard work while we were there.  luckily grandma has two vacuums so both boys could be best helpers.

i loved watching my boys play with the little people set that was mine when i was a little kid.

no trip to arizona is completely without a trip to thriftee for rides.  there's no better deal around than a carousel that holds three kids and only costs a quarter!!

and the horse is perfect for riding double too.

my personal favorite place to go when we visit is the bakery.  they have the very best lemon bars i have ever tasted (and their cookies are pretty tasty too)

maybe someday we will have play doh tools as cool as grandma's.  cody always asks for similar tools when we're at home, but we're sadly lacking.

it was beautiful weather on the day we decided to head up the mountain.  we went up to the orchard and picked all different kinds of delicious apples.  after we were picked out, we had a picnic under the apple trees.

this doll house was one of isaac's favorite things to play with.  if ever we couldn't find him, we'd check the bedroom where he was more often than not playing with the house.

we always love being in town for pima's story time at the library.  the boys made fingerprint/sticker flags for 9/11.

grandma has the coolest dress-ups.  cody thought these wings were just awesome!

more adventures to come after a quick weekend trip over to grandma and grandpa varga's!
