back to the bishops and a long long drive

we had another couple of days with grandma and grandpa bishop before grandma embarked on a drive up to utah with us.

cody and isaac loved grandma and grandpa's set of marbleworks.  we have a set that does not fit together and work nearly so well as their's.  isaac stood there putting the marble back in for a long long time.

isaac is always quite a 'best helper.'  he loved helping move the clothes to the drier since he could reach inside both machines.

we had several fun snacks that grandma had seen in a magazine, but i didn't manage to get pictures of all of them.   here are our celery/apple butterflies.  not even the fun shape helped them eat the celery!

we left on tuesday to start our long drive up to utah.  isaac and cody kept holding their water bottles up and saying 'cheese' like they were taking lots of pictures.  it was a pretty uneventful drive until we got into the mountains near the arizona/utah border.  we were stopped on the highway for a while and then followed a pilot car past a forest fire!  it wasn't huge or out of control, but we could definitely see flames!  it was quite an experience.  cody loved telling his dad later that night when we called him.

we drove up to paragonah and stayed with the halversen's.  they have so many fun toys outside and an awesome older house!  it was so fun to see them.  they definitely spoiled us with deliciousness from their garden.  for dinner we had corn on the cob, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, fresh bread and jam, and some grilled chicken - which i almost missed next to all the amazing vegetables!  for dessert, fresh peaches with vanilla ice cream.  so so very delicious!  it was so fun to see them again and spend some time catching up.
