we had a big celebration this weekend. ryan officially graduated from residency. we're done! no more school! no more training! its a little hard to believe that we're actually starting 'real life.'
i met mom and dad in phoenix at a chick-fil-a (we've been missing having three within five miles) and they took the kids home with them. annie was gone to girls camp, but left me her key so i could stay at her house. i took advantage of the solitude to run over to the gilbert temple to do some baptisms. it was so beautiful.
i flew to houston early the next morning on the same flight as ryan's parents. we met up in the airport, but weren't sitting together on the plane. ryan picked us all up and we ran a few quick errands before heading out to the yacht club for the last time. we've been to three other graduation ceremonies there and it was exciting to be there for our own!
the class of 2016
ryan, (ryan) kersey, bart, micah, jerecia, carolyn, erika, reid, kyle, kirby
and these ladies who helped me get through it all. tara's husband, kirby, was in ryan's year and liz's husband, justin, was a year ahead. i loved nights out and frisbee evenings at the park with these ladies (and lovely annika who got to come to her dad's graduation)
ryan got an award for excellence in obstetrics and gynecology.
ryan's parents were so patient as we took time to say goodbye to these friends that we may not see again. we have been blessed by knowing each of them and they'll all be exceptional doctors. we're sure glad these two could come and support.
we had all day saturday to hang out, so ryan took his parents down to the space center (i just went with cody, so i opted out) while i did some shopping. after dinner with jim and mona, we got to meet up with kimmie and andrew for one last game night. as we got in the car, i hesitated to even want to go cuz i worried it would make me so homesick, but we had the best time. i love those wonderful friends and will continue to miss them like crazy!
i flew home on sunday after church and drove out to thatcher to pick up the kids. while i was there....
i have been missing short hair, but just couldn't do it with the texas humidity. now that i'm in dry arizona i can give it a try again.
we drove home this afternoon (after a little birthday celebration at my parents). the road between globe and show low is finally back open after the big fire. i snapped a picture of some of the damage, but i think most of it was too far from the road to see. we'll be glad when its all out and we can open the windows to the fresh (not smoky) air again!
