well our "drive to arizona in one day" plan didn't turn out quite as we'd planned. about 8 miles west of abilene, our windshield suddenly looked like this.
we have no idea what happened or what caused it. cody was the only one awake and it shook him up a bit since pieces of glass flew all the way back to him in the back seat of the van. tiny pieces of glass were literally everywhere. i was even picking little pieces out of bonnie's hair!
we ended up turning back to get the windshield fixed in abilene (instead of waiting until middle of next week like the insurance company said we could do). luckily there was a place that could get us right in.
rather than sit in the smokey waiting room, ryan dropped us off at the closest playground we could find - at sonic. it was just a little bit of a sketchy area, but we survived. 5 or 6 trains drove by and the boys watched like this every single time.
i mostly just tried to keep bonnie from eating the sand by any means possible - like letting her take pictures.
we finally broke down and got some ice cream cones. it was a little hot, so they tasted great.
we lost about three hours in the whole ordeal, so we stayed in a hotel and got to our new house on saturday instead of friday, but we are here!!
the movers unloaded our stuff saturday afternoon, so we've been doing a little exploring, a little unpacking, a little playing
and a bit of church-going (with finger puppet playing included)
now we're leaving our new house for a week while we head to flagstaff for the bishop family reunion. can't wait!
