cody has arrived. he's made it to three years old. he's been waiting and waiting for his birthday to come. he can tell anyone that his birthday is 'on june first' and that he'll be three and after that four.
first thing we did birthday morning was have a big birthday breakfast. cody chose apple ring pancakes, eggs, bacon, and smoooovies (smoothies). delicious!
he had such a fun time opening his presents and didn't need any help this year.
grandma bishop went to england a couple of weeks ago and sent cody this picture of elmer (from one of our favorite books). she ended up getting one of these cute elephants to bring home and that's all cody wanted to see anytime we facetimed with them. he kept saying that it was for his birthday - it was not.
luckily isaac was listening and got cody his very own elmer and a mickey mouse clubhouse puzzle for his birthday. cody and elmer cannot hardly be separated!
he also got some new books, money!, jammies, and some new trains to add to our set.
i think he got most excited about his new cowboy boots (which we didn't even manage to get a picture of). he has all but worn out his cowboy boots from christmas, so we went to cavendar's and got the real deal this time. he loves them and i'm sure will wear them everywhere like his old boots.
cody told me that he wanted a brown cake for his birthday. grandma bishop gave him the idea of a bunny cake (which is what his mom had for several birthdays when she was a little girl).
the bunny was made out of our favorite chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and somehow cody ended up choosing peanut butter and chocolate ice cream (instead of pink like he'd initially asked for).
cody is definitely continuing on his tall streak measuring in at:
height - 40.5 in (97th percentile)
weight - 39 lbs (97th percentile)
cody has grown and learned so much the last year! he can name most of the letters (usually he says 'i don't know a. i don't know h.'). he is a great singer and can sing more songs than i can count all by himself. his favorite is 'i love to see the temple.' he also loves the whistling song from robin hood ('dad's favorite movie'), which is the ringtone on my phone for when ryan calls. he 'whistles' it with a 'oo-oo-ooo' sound.
cody continues to love books. the library is one of his very favorite places to go. there are two libraries nearby. one with a blue fire truck (in willis where they have blue fire trucks) and one with a school bus (in conroe). if i ask, he always opts to go to the 'big library with the school bus.' once we're there, he takes books into the train to read and decide if we want to take them home and sometimes does puzzles while isaac and i look for books.
he insists on taking a book to bed and we often find him asleep cradling a book, as well as his animals, or even just the book!
his other great love is mickey mouse clubhouse. the greatest treat you could offer him is to let him watch mickey mouse clubhouse or play his mickey mouse game on the ipad. he plays along really well with the show and answers all their questions!
cody loves to facetime with family all over. lately grandma bishop has been calling and telling cody stories about the things she sees on her bike rides in the morning, so he has started telling more and more fun stories. here's a sample that he told me while sitting on my lap this morning:
"i and my dad catched the rabbit and i got my net out and i grabbed. i got a net out and i caught the rabbit. dad hold on to me so he could ride too. dad hold on to me while i pedaled and chased after me. that's what i did."
