we originally planned to go up to galveston for a couple of group kayaking reservations and a family beach. we got a message monday night saying the weather wasn't going to be good, so we rescheduled half the kayaking (mom, annie, beth, and chris - since they can't go later) and decided to stick around the house on tuesday instead.
luckily grandma is never short on fun things to do!
she pulled out some toys/games she got for the kids in england this spring and showed them her dancing man.
everyone got to put together a foam toy dinosaur or airplane/helicopter.
i'm pretty sure cody is the only one who kept his beyond that morning
caitlin and ashlee have been getting really good at jump rope, so grandma brought one to have everyone else learn. it was a bit of a slow process with some, but so fun.
there were two awesome porch swings (so i'm told since i didn't venture down into the mosquitos) under the house that entertained for hours as well.
the adults were going to take a walk down to the jetty, but we all ended up just taking a walk on the beach to look for treasures.
the water was pretty irresistible, especially when we came across some people (who happened to be from wyoming) who had raked the seaweed away
the girls got a little more wet than they were supposed to and then were thrilled when some of the boys agreed to take them down to the water during nap time again.
beth brought summertime bingo to play while dinner was getting cooked.
and david taught the kids how to play 'no bears are out tonight' on the porch. pretty sure none of them actually know how to play, but they sure had fun running back and forth screaming away from the 'bear.'
with family pictures on monday, we bumped family home evening to tuesday night. mom and dad were in charge and organized a 'my family' book with stickers that we could each fill in. they told a few stories from our family history. it was a fun night to reminisce and learn more about our family!
