bishop reunion 2014 - houston space center

thursday, we all headed into houston and went to the space center.  julie got the tickets ahead and they had our names on them.  we felt so official!

we headed outside for the tour first thing (before it got too hot - even though it was already way to hot for the wyomingites).  we had to wait in line outside for a while waiting for our tram.

they had a video playing with no sound.

it looked pretty entertaining, so we looked it up online when we got home.  just as we thought, it was pretty entertaining, especially after watching the video it parodied

we felt like we were back at disneyland when we got on the tram

the tour made several stops.  the first one took us to the actual flight control room they used during all the famous space flights.  computers were so different back then.  they had about enough memory to hold 2 pictures!  think about how many pictures you can hold in your pocket on a tiny phone now!!

next we stopped at a training type facility.  it had replicas of several parts of space ships and vehicles that astronauts can use to practice.  caitlin loved every moment.  she is sure that she wants to be an astronaut when she grows up!

the last stop of our tour was to see a couple of real rockets.

this is one of the saturn rockets that would have gone into space if the last few missions hadn't been cancelled.  it was huge!

we had a picnic lunch outside the space center and headed back in to watch a couple of shows and check out the exhibits.  the littlests got naps during the darker shows.

ryan and i tried out this fun free-fall right before we left.

it was a really fun day, but we were sure exhausted by the time we headed back to surfside!
